Paola Ferrario

December 6-29, 2001

Paola Ferrario’s “Elder Relatives” series is a quiet, personal narrative of family, memory and the path we move on throughout our lives. Ferrario’s mother, uncle and aunt lived together for 32 years in a 3 bedroom apartment. When her uncle and mother passed away she was left with some money, a collection of scarred paintings, 3 cellars filled with obsolete mechanical instruments, 537 keys, magazines from the past 10 years, 2 pugs, and an aunt with a weak and broken heart. Her collection of triptych still life images of this life she inherited is a moving tribute to how cycles of life intersect.
