Ken Rosenthal

February 5, 2002 - February 28, 2002

Also interested in exploring how the past and present converge and co-exist, Ken Rosenthal’s dreamy black and white series, “Seen and Not Seen,” emerged from a fascination with that peculiar poignancy that characterizes old family photographs. He writes, “While paging through albums of family photographs, I was struck by the realization that many of the pictures that were bringing back strong memories occurred before I was born, or at times or places I was not present. These memories were so vivid, yet were indeed false memories. Fascinated with how many of our recollections can be attributed to a photograph, dream or story as opposed to an actual experience.” Rosenthal will lecture on his work Friday, February 6 at 7:30 pm at Blue Sky.
